DELTA COUNTY, MI. (THECOUNT) — Gerald Joseph Weaver and Tara Javurek Weaver, both of Escanaba, Michigan, have been identified as the victims in a Friday double-Fatal vehicle crash in Delta County.
The Weavers, both 47, were killed in a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor late Friday afternoon in the Upper Peninsula.
According to reports, the couple was traveling in a Toyota SUV on US-2 in the Upper Peninsula, when a big-rig lost control and crossed centerlines around 4 p.m. Friday. The truck then came into head-on contact with the SUV.
The couple was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck, from Canada, was not injured.
After the initial collision, a Chevrolet SUV came into rear-end contact with the semi-truck.
The Chevrolet driver, identified as a 38-year-old man from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, suffered multiple broken bones in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
