GRANT COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Jeremiah Rupel, of Marion, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday fatal vehicle crash in Grant County.
Rupel, 41, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer in Gas City Thursday morning.
According to reports, Rupel was operating a Ford Focus on IN-22 near County Road 500th East in Gas City, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines before traveling into opposing lanes around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with a Freightliner semi-tractor operated by 39-year-old Gabriell Eliserio.
Rupel was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Eliserio was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
