IRON COUNTY, UT. (THECOUNT) — A shocking discovery of eight deceased family members was made inside an Iron County, Utah home on Wednesday. Five of those dead are reportedly children.
The eight family members were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside a home near Cedar City on Wednesday.
According to reports, police performed a welfare check at a residence in the 4900 block of Albert Drive on Wednesday. When they arrived, eight members of the same family were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
All eight family members were pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
The five children attended schools in the Iron County School District, officials said in a letter sent to parents.
Though officials have not provided a cause of death, murder-suicide is suspected.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
