LEHIGH COUNTY, PA. (THECOUNT) — Nicholas Varec, of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal workplace incident in Lehigh County.
Nic Varec, 36, was killed while working at a jobsite in Lehigh Township Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Varec was working at a residence in the 4100 block of West Mountain View Drive in Walnutport, when he became trapped between a piece of construction equipment and a trench box around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Varec was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine an exact cause of death.
The coroner is investigating the death along with Lehigh Township police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
