IREDELL COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Sequoia Chamon Cotton, of Statesville, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday afternoon fatal vehicle crash in Iredell County.
Cotton, 26, was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Statesville Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, Cotton was operating an Oldsmobile sedan on Garden Valley Road near Interstate 40 in Statesville, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then came into contact with a bridge railing before rolling over into the South Yadkin River.
Investigators believe the crash may have occurred on Thursday and wasn’t discovered until Christmas Eve.
Cotton was pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the wreck at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
