DESOTO COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — Mark McDaniel, of Memphis, Tennessee, has been identified as the suspect arrested in the Saturday fatal shooting of Southaven High School football star, Christian Saulsberry in Desoto County, Mississippi. Saulsberry currently played for Canadian Football League Edmonton Elks.

McDaniel, 24, was taken into custody after being accused of fatally shooting former Southaven High School football player, 25-year-old Saulsberry, on Saturday morning in Walls.

According to reports, police responded to a call of shots fired in the 7400 block Church Road in Walls around 3:20 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, Saulsberry was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg.

Saulsberry was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries while being transported to an area hospital.

McDaniel was arrested at his residence by Memphis police on Saturday afternoon.

Mcdaniel is charged with second-degree murder and will be extradited to Desoto County.
