WINNEBAGO COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Todd Norton, of Rockford, Illinois, has been identified as the suspect arrested in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash involving a bicyclist in Winnebago County.
Norton, 52, was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs causing death following a pickup-versus-bicycle fatal crash in Rockford Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Norton was operating a pickup truck on Brooke Road in Rockford, when the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a bicyclist before coming into contact with a utility pole around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The 43-year-old bicyclist became trapped under the pickup truck. He was pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the collision at an area hospital.
Norton is currently housed at the Winnebago County jail on a no-bond hold.
