MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Daniel Mota Dos Reis, 36, has been identified as the suspect arrested in connection to a break-in at the Maricopa County, Arizona headquarters of Katie Hobbs, the Democratic nominee for Arizona governor, local authorities said Thursday.
Reis was identified by the Phoenix Police Department after he was recognized by a patrol officer in surveillance images taken at Hobbs’ offices. He had been arrested and released Wednesday in a separate burglary case.
He was identified by sources as a “transient.”
After his re-arrest, Dos Reis was booked into Maricopa County Jail on one count of third-degree burglary, police said.
An investigation into the case is ongoing.
