SABINE PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Albert Nettles, of Marthaville, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday afternoon fatal vehicle crash in Sabine County.
Nettles, 35, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Belmont Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, Nettles was operating a Chevrolet pickup truck on LA-175 near Belmont, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle then entered a culvert, made contact with a concrete bridge and rolled over.
Nettles, who was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Nettles’ wife took to Facebook to post on her husband’s passing:
Today I left my husband.
Actually he left me. He was on his way home, but left on the way.
None of it makes sense. My brain is a jumbled mess and I keep trying to figure out how to fix it all. I always fix it for him, but I can’t this time.
For anyone who has ever been in this situation it is one of the worst experiences a person can face. I reached out for the nurses hand but she didn’t see it. I was a terrified mess, but on thr outside I had it together. I walked up to the table to tell him goodbye. He was just as beautiful as he always is, but then I left him. Just left him there. He hates being alone.
My whole body hurts, my skin craves his touch. I need to hold him. I need to make him better. I don’t want to shower, I don’t want to wash clothes. I don’t want whatever is left of him to go away too.
Last night we had a great time. We ate good, we enjoyed some time together and it was probably the best day we had in a long time. I am thankful for that. I am thankful for Dwain and every thing he taught me. I am thankful for his love. He loved me like no one else ever has. Every part. No matter how much I didn’t like it myself. He was there to like ot for me.
Thank you to everyone who has checked in. I don’t know how I will make it. He was on his way home and I keep thinking he’s going to walk through the door. Then I remember… I left him.
Albert Dwain Nettles Jr. You were loved… you were so loved. I loved you hard. I loved you with every inch of my soul and only ever wanted the best for you. I will keep you with me always and forever, and when I look at our boys… I will remember everything you gave us. I love you, babe.
I know you’re with your dad now, yall two behave until the rest of us can get there.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
