BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) Troy McCollough, Kelly Bailey and Austin Scott, have been identified as the heroes who died while attempting to save a young body who was swept away while visiting the Sabine River in Beauregard Parish.

The body of the boy, named only as “Bentley,” was located Monday miles from the Louisiana sandbar where he was taken by waters over the weekend near Merryville. All three men drown in their effort to save the young boy.

McCollough, lived nearby in the Junction community. Bailey was of Hornbeck, and Scott of DeRidder.

Bailey was engaged to the boy’s mother, the sheriff said, and Scott was his best friend. McCollough “just happened to be there.”

Officials said one man’s body was found late Saturday and the other two Sunday morning.
