FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT. (THECOUNT) — Sonia Loja, of Danbury, Connecticut, has been identified as the mother involved in a quadruple-fatal murder-suicide involving children in Fairfield County Wednesday night.
Loja, 37, reportedly strangled her three children before taking her own life by hanging Wednesday night in Danbury.
The deceased youngsters people have been identified as, Junior Panjon, 12; Joselyn Panjon, 10; and Jonael Panjon, 5.
According to reports, police responded to a welfare check at 10 Whaley Street in Danbury around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers then discovered the children unresponsive. At some point, Loja was found hanging.
“Pending an official autopsy, preliminary findings indicate that Ms. Loja strangled her three children before killing herself,” Det. Capt. Mark Williams said in a statement.
Investigators suspect the mother’s cause of death was asphyxia by hanging.
Autopsies of the deceased are scheduled for Thursday morning at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington.
