BERKSHIRE COUNTY, MA. (THECOUNT) — Darrin Cawthron, of Derry, New Hampshire, has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday freak tree fall accident in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
Cawthron, 56, was killed after a substantial tree came down on his pickup truck near Lenox on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, Cawthron was operating a Ford F-150 pickup truck on Route 7 near Old Stockbridge Road in Lenox, when a large tree fell on the vehicle during a microburst storm around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Cawthron was the only occupant of the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The National Weather Service reported near-hurricane force winds of 70 mph at the time.
