HENRY COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Clay Purnell of New Castle, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday fatal vehicle crash in Henry County.
Purnell, 25, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near New Castle Saturday morning.
According to reports, Purnell was operating a Honda Civic on Interstate 70, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes. The then vehicle came into contact with an SUV operated by 20-year-old Kourtney Ash of Lewisville, around 5 a.m. Saturday.
Both vehicles exited the roadway during the collision.
Purnell’s vehicle entered a culvert and rolled over.
Ash’ vehicle also entered a culvert and caught fire.
Purnell was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Ash was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
