Springsteen Sells Sony ‘Lock Stock Barrel’ Entire Publishing Catalog ‘300 Songs 43 Albums’

COLTS NECK, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Bruce Springsteen has finalized a deal to sell – lock stock and barrel – every master representing his entire musical works and the coinciding music publishing rights to Sony Music Publishing, pitchfork reported Wednesday night.

The combo deal is believed to be worth around $500 million with the proceeds going directly to the bank account of the 72-year-old “I’m On Fire” crooner.

Springsteen’s catalog includes over 300 songs, 20 studio albums, 23 live LPs, 7 EPs, and a lot more.

For his entire 50-year-long career, Springsteen has released his albums through Sony imprint Columbia Records. He was granted ownership of his earlier records in the late 1980s and 1990s as an incentive to re-sign with the label. Last month, Springsteen was in negotiations with Sony to sell his album catalog while he also simultaneously shopped around his publishing catalog, which was under Universal Music Publishing Group, according to Billboard.

This deal arrives one year after Universal Music Publishing Group purchased Bob Dylan’s extensive publishing catalog for more than $300 million. In 2019, the master rights to Taylor Swift’s first six albums were sold for over $300 million as well.

Bruce can forget about the Glory days as currently, with his existing combined assets, the deal will certainly award him billionaire status.

According to CelebrityNetWorth, Springsteen already has a net worth of $500 million. He reportedly rakes in about $80 million yearly.

“In his career spanning over several decades, he has achieved fame both as a solo artist and as the leader of the E Street Band. In a given year when he is touring, Bruce’s annual earnings can easily top $80 million. To date, Bruce has sold more than 135 million albums worldwide which makes him one of 35 best-selling musical artists in history,” reports CelebrityNetWorth.

Springsteen has won twenty Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award.

Springsteen’s most recent studio album, “Letter to You,” came out in October 2020. He also recently reissued The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts last month.

Though “Letter to You” was the best-selling album in the United States the week it debuted, it charted behind Luke Combs’ re-release of “What You See Is What You Get” due to streaming and individual track sales, with 96,000 equivalent album units, including 92,000 album sales. Back in April, the Jersey native announced on “GMA” a star-studded event that aired on ABC. The concert was to benefit the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund to help those in the state affected by the coronavirus. A screen capture of The Boss’s appearance is above.

Life is good for Springsteen. He grew up in New Jersey and remains in the area, owning several properties, including a horse farm in Colts Neck, where he lives with his family. The couple’s youngest son Sam is a member of the Colts Neck Fire Department.

Springsteen has had several notable relationships. In May 1985, he married actress Julianne Phillips despite their 11-year age difference. His touring schedule took a toll on the relationship, and the couple separated in 1988, finalizing their divorce in March 1989.

Soon after his separation from Phillips, Springsteen began a relationship with Patti Scialfa, (pictured above) who had been on tour with him on both the Born in the U.S.A. Tour (1984) and the Tunnel of Love Express Tour (1988). Springsteen and Scialfa married in 1991, and have three children together, according to CelebrityNetWorth.
