MEXICO. (THECOUNT) — Octavio Ocaña, the actor, best known in the role of Benito Ríos in the Mexican series “Vecinos,” has died after reportedly crashing a vehicle and being fatally shot in Mexico. He was 22.
According to JustJared, the actor was driving when Mexican police ordered him to stop. He refused, crashing the vehicle.
According to El Universal, the actor and his companions in the car were drunk and, in their attempt to flee, hit a car. The Mexican newspaper also reported that the weapon was fired inside the vehicle, and allegedly belonged to Octavio. The two people inside the car are now giving their statements in an investigation.
He was best known for his role in Vecinos, which first debuted in 2005, setting out to portray daily life in Mexican neighborhoods. He last appeared in the telenovelas Te Doy La Vida and La Mexicana y El Güero.
