JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Rachel Canant Long, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, and Lauren Jerrie Nabors, of Fairfield, Alabama, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal vehicle crash Thursday morning in Johnson County.
Long, 49, and 20-year-old Nabors, were both killed in a two-vehicle crash near Bessemer Thursday morning.
According to reports, Nabors was operating a Honda Civic on Interstate 459 near Morgan Road in Bessemer, when for unknown reasons, the Honda crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The Honda then came into head-on contact with a Chevrolet TrailBlazer, operated by Nabors.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
