SEDGWICK COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Jacquez Carter has been identified as the young father shot dead Wednesday night while operating a classic Chevy Monte Carlo in Sedgwick County, Kansas.

Carter, 23, was killed in a shooting and subsequent vehicle crash Wednesday night in Wichita.

According to reports, Carter was operating a classic Chevy Monte Carlo on East Harry Street near Washington in Wichita, when someone in a white SUV opened fire.

Carter’s vehicle then exited the roadway and made contact with a utility pole around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting is believed to be targeted.

No suspect or motive information was provided by officials as of Thursday. No arrests have been made.
