NJ Priest Rev FR Alfred Onyutha ID’d As Victim In Friday Night Franklin Double-Fatal Vehicle Crash

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Camden Diocese priest, Rev FR Alfred Onyutha, has been identified as the victim in a Friday night double-fatal vehicle crash in Sussex County.

Onyutha, 61, a parochial vicar at Saint Padre Pio Parish in Vineland, was killed along with another driver in a head-on crash in Franklin Friday night.

According to reports, Onyutha was operating a vehicle on Tuckahoe Road in Franklin, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 9:30 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with another vehicle.

Police identified the second victim only as a 44-year-old resident of Williamstown. That individual was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the wreck.

Onyutha, who served at several South Jersey parishes since 2005, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Onyutha, ordained at a diocese in Uganda in 1990, also served at St. Joseph Parish in Somers Point and Infant Jesus Parish in Woodbury Heights, the diocese said.

He served as well at Holy Angels Parish and Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, and Holy Family Parish in Sewell.
