KOSSUTH COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT) — Christopher Lance Phelon, originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, has been identified as the deceased Iowa father who fatally shot his two young sons before turning the gun on himself Monday in Kossuth County.
Chris Phelon, 32, was found dead in the northern Iowa city of Algona along with his two sons who were also shot to death.
The youths have been identified as 6-year-old Logan Phelon and 3-year-old Seth Phelon. The boys died of gunshot wounds.
The Department of Public Safety says Chris Phelon also was found dead from a gunshot wound. His death is considered a suicide.
Someone called 911 after discovering the bodies on Monday night. Authorities announced how they died and their names following an autopsy.
