LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Keith Hilliard, the father of LSU baseball pitcher, Ma’Khail Hilliard, has been identified as the victim who drown while tubing on the Amite River over the weekend.
Keith Hilliard, 53, entered the water to retrieve a lost item and failed to resurface while tubing in Denham Springs.
After he was pulled from the water, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, according to officials.
Ma’Khail Hilliard became one of LSU’s best pitchers late this season. As he returned to the weekend rotation for the first time since his freshman year, Hilliard recorded four straight quality starts the final month of the regular season. He finished 6-0 with a 4.31 ERA.
