POLK COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Baylee Simpson, of Mulberry, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a Friday fiery vehicle crash in Polk County.
Simpson, 25, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Imperial Lakes Country Club Friday afternoon.
According to reports, Simpson was operating a Toyota Yaris on Imperial Lakes Blvd near Opal Drive, when the vehicle came into rear-end contact with a Cadillac SUV. The Yaris then continued until it made contact with a tree and burst into flames around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Simpson, who was ejected during the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force and thermal injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
