JEFFERSON COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Madelynn Noel Troutt, of Louisville, Kentucky, has been identified as the victim in a Monday night head-on crash in Jefferson County involving suspected DUI driver 27-year-old Michael Dewitt.

Dewitt was operating a stolen pickup truck when he crashed head-on into a vehicle operated by 17-year-old Troutt Monday night.

According to reports, Dewitt was operating the stolen pickup truck northbound on Dixie Highway near St Andrews Church Rd in Louisville, when he crossed centerlines and collided head-on with a vehicle operated by Troutt around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Dewitt then attempted to flee the scene but was was detained by bystanders.

A police toxicology report showed Dewitt had a high level of Amphetamines and Benzodiazepines in his system.

Troutt was was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Dewitt now faces charges including murder, leaving the scene of an accident, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and theft by unlawful taking.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
