Rapper Bobby Shmurda Released From Upstate Lockup [Video]

CLINTON COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Rapper Bobby Shmurda, has been released from an Clinton County, New York prison after serving over six years behind bars.

Shmurda, real name, Ackquille Jean Pollard, 26, was released from the Clinton Correctional Facility near Dannemora on Tuesday after serving six years and two months in prison.

According to XXL, the Brooklyn rapper was released from Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York on Tuesday. Based on the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision database, his status now says “released.”

A video was also shared via the Instagram page @2cool2bl0g this morning, which shows Bobby on what appears to be a private jet shortly after his release. “#BobbyShmurda Almost home 👀 they picking him up in a jet,” the IG post reads.

Pollard still has some obligations concerning his sentence. According to a rep for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, the 26-year-old rhymer “will serve the remainder of his sentence under community supervision until his maximum expiration date of February 23, 2026,” According to XXL.

Bobby Shmurda and 12 members of his GS9 crew were initially arrested on Dec. 17, 2014 at Quad Studios in New York City following an investigation into the Brooklyn-based collective. Just five months after the official release of his hit breakout single, “Hot Nigga,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Bobby was hit with a slew of charges including conspiracy, reckless endangerment and weapons, conspiracy in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
