GoFundMe For Little Girl Injured In Britt Reid Crash Reaches Over $45K

KANSAS CITY, MO. (THECOUNT) — The family of “Ariel,” the 5-year-old girl left in critical condition after a Thursday night Missouri vehicle crash, has set up a GoFundMe, and it’s already surpassed its fundraising goal of $45,000. Britt Reid, the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Chiefs outside linebackers coach, was involved in the wreck.

Reid was notably absent from his Super Bowl duties after he was involved in the multi-vehicle crash Thursday night in Missouri that left two children critically injured.

Reid, 35, was operating a pickup truck when the vehicle struck two other vehicles, one that was disabled and the other that was assisting the disabled vehicle. Reid later told officers he had consumed between two and three drinks and had ingested Adderall.

According to KSN, Ariel was with her mother who was helping a relative who had run out of gas near I-435 and Stadium Drive.

The GoFundMe was created on Saturday morning. The amount of $45,000 surpasses the fundraising goal.

The crash occurred on a freeway entrance ramp on Interstate 435 about 9 p.m. Thursday, according to police.

A Kansas City police officer reported smelling “a moderate odor of alcoholic beverages” and that Britt Reid’s eyes were bloodshot and red. The station based its reporting on a search warrant application.

Reid was not arrested. Blood was drawn for further investigation, according to KSHB.

Reid did not coach during Sunday’s big game against the home team at Tampa Bay, in which the Chiefs lost.

According to Montgomery County, Pennsylvania court records, Reid was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2007. The next year, he was sentenced to up to six months behind bars.
