HARRIS COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Brandon Curtis, of Humble, Texas, has been identified as the father fatally shot after he transported his daughter to a Humble park Friday night to fight with a group of other teenagers.

Curtis, 35, was shot dead by a teenage boy, who was defending his brother, after Curtis joined in the fight along with other adults.

The deadly incident occurred Friday around 6:30 p.m. in the Timber Hills community on Spring Brook Pass Drive in Humble.

According to reports, Curtis had taken his daughter to fight other teens when several adults joined in the brawl, Harris County sheriff’s deputies said.

At some point, Curtis joined in the fight. Witnesses said he started pummeling a teen boy, when the boy’s older brother opened fire on Curtis.

Authorities said video evidence supports the shooter’s claim.

The case will be referred to a grand jury without charges.
