NEW YORK, NY. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Evans, of Staten Island, New York, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday fatal shooting in New York.

Evans, 22, was shot and killed near Staten Island Saturday evening.

According to reports, Evans was on-foot in the area of Victory Boulevard and Cebra Avenue, near his Clark Lane home in Tompkinsville, when he was shot multiple times by an unknown male.

Evans was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

The suspect was described by officials as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a red jacket, police said.

The hunt for the shooter is ongoing.
