HUNTINGTON COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — A man was shot dead in a police-involved shooting in Huntington County, Indiana, Sunday morning.
An officer was seriously injured and a man killed during a backhoe chase near Lime City early Sunday morning.
According to reports, police responded to call of a man operating a backhoe while destroying property in the 100 block of Shultz Drive around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. When police arrived, the suspect fled in the backhoe, destroying more property, while police pursued.
At some point, gunfire erupted resulting in one of the officers getting struck.
The suspect was shot dead.
The current condition of the officer was not provided.
No one else was injured during the shooting.
The deadly incident remains under investigation.
