SABINE COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Cindy Perkins, of Hemphill, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday evening crash in Sabine County.

Perkins, 63, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Hemphill Sunday night.

According to reports, Perkins was operating a Toyota SUV on State Hwy 87 in Hemphill, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle then came into contact with a Ford SUV operated by 53-year-old Catherine McGue, from Washington, Louisiana.

Perkins and pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

McGue was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
