ABILENE, TX. (THECOUNT) — James Rowdy Stone, of Clyde, Texas, has been identified as the victim killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Abilene Thursday evening.

Stone, 31, was killed in a two-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred at the conclusion of a police chase in Abilene Thursday evening.

According to reports, Stone was operating a motorcycle on I-20, when for unknown reasons, an unmarked Law Enforcement vehicle began pursuing him near Grape Street. At some point, the bike collided with a pickup truck near Jameson St. around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Stone was ejected from the bike during the crash.

Stone was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Some commenting on Facebook questioned if Stone knew he was being pursued by law enforcement considering the fact the vehicle was unmarked:

“Ok say someone bought a retired old unit and followed you with lights bought online would you pull over ? I think not, the Facebook comment read in part.

The investigation into the cause of the deadly incident is ongoing.
