FRESNO COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Kenneth Carter, of Fresno, California, has been identified as the suspect in a Sunday night hit-and-run vehicle collision that killed a pregnant woman in Fresno County.
Carter, 32, is accused of fatally striking a 7-month pregnant woman as she walk in a crosswalk in northwest Fresno Sunday night.
According to reports, the unnamed woman was on foot crossing the street with family members on W Swift Ave near N Marks Ave in Fresno, when an SUV, operated by Carter, fatally struck her around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The SUV then fled the scene.
Police say, Carter initially fled the scene but contacted the department moments later to turn himself in.
Carter was booked into the Fresno County Jail for vehicular manslaughter.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
