NILES CHARTER TOWNSHIP, MI. (THECOUNT) — Darnell D. Johnson of Benton Harbor, Michigan, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday morning two-vehicle wrong-way crash in Niles Township.
Johnson, 28, was killed in a Wednesday morning wrong-way crash near Niles.
According to reports, a 29 year-old woman operating an SUV was traveling the wrong-way for unknown reasons on the St Joseph Valley Pkwy in Niles around 3 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with Johnson’s vehicle.
The female driver, who was not identified, was transported to an area hospital with unknown non-life threatening injuries.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
