IREDELL COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Robert Bruce Selvey, of Statesville, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday hit-and-run vehicle collision in Iredell County.

Selvey, 55, was in the area of a disabled vehicle when he was fatally struck by a passing pickup trunk on Sunday morning near Statesville.

According to reports, Selvey was in the area of his disabled Buick Lesabre on Chestnut Grove Road near Beechwood Farm Road in Statesville around 3 a.m., when a passing Ford F-150 pickup truck struck him and his vehicle and then fled the scene on-foot.

Selvey was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Police conducted an unsuccessful search for the driver of the pickup.

The search for the driver continues and the investigation into the cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
