TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Jory Wayne Thaxton, of Walker, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday night two-vehicle crash involving a big-rig in Tangipahoa Parish.
Thaxton, 30, was killed when a vehicle he was operating was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 12 near Hammond on Wednesday.
According to reports, Thaxton was operating a Toyota Corolla traveling on I-12 near South Airport Road in Hammond, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with the rear of a slower moving semi-tractor at a high rate of speed after midnight Wednesday.
Thaxton was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the semi was uninjured in the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
