CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Lydell Marcus Mosby, of Richmond, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Chesterfield County early Friday morning.

Mosby, 23, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 on Friday morning in Chester.

According to Virginia State Police, La’Isis Jones, 18, was operating a GMC van on I-95 near Route 288 in Chester, when the vehicle began to hydroplane and rotate into a wall. Mosby, who was operating a Chevrolet Impala in the same direction, then struck Jones’ disabled vehicle head-on around 4 a.m. Friday.

The force of the crash cause both vehicle to make contact with tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer then left the scene.

The tractor-trailer may display damage or paint transfer on the right front corner and sides, say police.

Jones, who was was wearing her seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Mosby, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Anyone with possible information on the crash should contact the Virginia State Police at 911.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
