POLK COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT) — Aaron Bjork, of Des Moines, Iowa, has been identified as the victim killed during a Saturday night Polk County police pursuit on Interstate 80.
Bjork, 21, was operating a motorcycle when he crashed while attempting to elude police in near Altoona Saturday night.
According to officials, Bjork was traveling on a motorcycle when he refused to stop while police were attempting to conduct a traffic stop around 8 p.m. Saturday on I-80 Altoona and Mitchellville.
During the pursuit, Bjork made contact with the rear of a tractor-trailer.
Bjork was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
It’s unclear why police were attempting to conduct the traffic stop.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
