MCINTOSH COUNTY, OK. (THECOUNT) — Erwin and Janet Christensen, of Bristow, Oklahoma, have been identified as the victims in a Sunday double-fatal vehicle crash in McIntosh County.
Erwin and Janet, both 62, were killed and several others injured, including two children, following a crash near Hitchita on Sunday evening.
According to reports, a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling on US-266 near Hitchita, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing traffic around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle then came into contact with the Christensen’s Volkswagen Jetta head-on.
The 28-year-old Equinox driver, and two passengers, ages three and four, were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.
The Christensens were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
