COPLEY TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) — Gwendolyn Wheeler, of Akron, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday single-vehicle crash in Copley Township.
“Gwen” Wheeler, 58, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night in Copley Township.
According to officials, Wheeler was operating a Kia Soul on Jacoby Road near Wright Road in Copley Township, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle ran a stop sign. The vehicle then made contact with a grouping of trees around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
Wheeler was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
A crash report noted that Wheeler was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
