SPOTSYLVANIA COURTHOUSE, VA. (THECOUNT) — Michael Whitecotton, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday afternoon motorcycle crash.

Whitecotton, 48, was killed while traveling on a motorcycle Sunday afternoon in Spotsylvania.

According to reports, Whitecotton was operating a motorcycle in the 6500 block of Hickory Ridge Road, when for unknown reasons, he lost control before making contact with a tree Sunday afternoon.

Whitecotton was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Speed was apparently a factor in the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to Facebook, Whitecotton worked as a supervisor financial management analyst at Department of Defense for the U.S. Marine Corps.
