HUNLOCK TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — John McElwee Jr, of Plains, PA, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Hunlock Twp.
McElwee, 35, was killed after being hit by a vehicle on state Route 11 in Hunlock Twp. on Thursday night, according to the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office.
McElwee was on-foot in the area of Route 11 when he was fatally struck by a 71-year-old Shickshinny resident around 7:30 P.M. Thursday.
McElwee was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
McElwee’s manner of death was ruled accidental, reports CitizensVoice.
No autopsy was planned.
The Shickshinny resident, who remained on-scene, was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
No one was cited at the scene and no charges had been filed.
Police said the investigation was ongoing.
