Rev Jim Palmer Ohio Ministry Network Dead In Saturday Vehicle Crash Near Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Rev. Jim Palmer, assistant superintendent and longtime missions director for the Ohio Ministry Network, has been identified as the victim in a fatal vehicle crash over the weekend.

Palmer, 64, was killed Saturday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 west of Columbus.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, the State Highway Patrol said Sunday. The drivers of two other vehicles involved in the crash were not injured.

Further detail of the crash were not provided as of Monday morning.

Palmer had served as assistant superintendent and missions director for the Ohio Ministry Network, the state office for 280 Assemblies of God churches in the state.

“When they think of Jim Palmer, they think of someone who was passionate about spreading the gospel around the world,” the Rev. John Wootton, superintendent for the Ohio Ministry Network, said Sunday. “That portion of our family is especially reeling today,” reports Cincinnati.

He said Palmer, the son of ministers, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support mission work and had recently taken a trip to Tanzania.

“He grew up with a love for that,” Wootton said.

The Assemblies of God is a Pentecostal denomination with some 75,000 adherents in Ohio. Wootton described Palmer as “my really good friend and my right-hand guy.”

Palmer is survived by his wife, Renee, and three grown sons, Wootton said.
