REED TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) — Matthew Dean Potts, of Republic, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday ejection crash in Reed Township.
Potts, 35, died Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle accident near Republic.
According to officials, Potts was operating a Ford Explorer near Township Rd 183 & E County Rd 24 in Seneca County, when the other involved driver, Calvin J. Robinson, 74, of Republic, failed to observe a posted stop sign while operating a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado then T-Boned Potts’ vehicle around 7:30 p.m.
The force of the collision caused Potts’ vehicle to rollover multiple times.
Potts was ejected during the violent collision.
Robinson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was reportedly uninjured in the crash.
Potts, who was not belted, was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected as a factor in the crash, reports NorwalkReflector.
It is unclear if anyone was cited at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
