According to police, officers responded to a call of a stabbing around 1:30 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, two victims were discovered suffering from apparent stab wounds.

A 48-year-old homeless woman said she was cooking under a bridge when Miller approached her and asked if she loved God. Around that time, a man tried kicking the suspect’s weapon away but he was then stabbed about 20 times.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene on walking trails that lead to America the Beautiful Park, reports KRDO.

When officers arrived to the park, they found several more victims.

Around 2:12 a.m., CSPD received calls that several people had been stabbed in the area of Tejon St. and Boulder St. Several victims had detained the suspect when officers arrived.

In all, eight victims were transported to area hospitals. They are currently being treated for what CSPD calls sharp force trauma injuries.

At this time the extent of the injuries was not provided by officials.

Investigators believe the attacks were random, and at this time there’s no known relationship between the suspect and the victims, reports KRDO.
