CINCINNATI, OH. (THECOUNT) — Former Cincinnati Bearcats basketball player Eric Hicks is reporting Sunday that Chuck Machock, UC basketball player and an assistant coach under Bob Huggins, has passed away. He was 82.
Machock was also the radio color analyst on Bearcats games for 25 years.
Machock played for UC and was a roommate of Oscar Robertson. Machock was inducted into UC’s James P. Kelly Athletics Hall of Fame as a contributor in 2016.
Machock will always be remembered famously for being tossed from UC’s first-round 2003 NCAA Tournament game against Gonzaga (74-69 UC loss) in Salt Lake City. Huggins had been ejected during the game. Machock stood up from the broadcast table and yelled at one of the game officials. He was then tossed and escorted off the court, reports WLW.
A cause of death was not provided.
