GRAHAM, NC. (THECOUNT) — Leonardo Jubar Escalera, of Graham, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Alamance County single-vehicle crash on New Year’s Day, according to reports.

Escalera, 16, was believed to be speeding when he crashed a vehicle on Snow Camp Road on early Wednesday morning, according to NCHP.

According to reports, Escalera was operating a vehicle on Snow Camp Road and Clark Road, near Snow Camp Solar, in Alamance County, when for unconfirmed reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then made contact with a stop sign, a power pole and a substantial tree.

Escalera was the sole occupant of the vehicle, reports MyFox8.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Troopers noted that Escalera was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the violent crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
