LYNN, IN. (THECOUNT) — John Resetar, of Lynn, Indiana, has been identified as the suspect shot dead during an hours-long standoff in Lynn that followed a Friday night shooting, according to Sunday morning reports.

Resetar, 44, was the suspected gunman involved in an hours-long standoff that resulted in several officers receiving minor injuries in Lynn.

Resetar was suspected in a shooting in Lynn on Friday.

Police responded to Resetar’s residence, located at 817 W Church St, in Lynn, on reports of a domestic situation.

Police arrived and were interviewing Resetar’s wife, when shots rang out from within the home.

Three officers were injured by shrapnel during the gunfire. All suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Officers continued to be fired upon. Officers returned fire, according to WISH.

About five hours later, SWAT entered the home and found Resetar unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Resetar was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

It is unclear if police shot the suspect or if he took his own life.

According to records, Resetar worked as a driver at Bunzl. He was also a motorcycle drag racer.
