NYC Shock As 13-Year-Old Arrested Friday In Tessa Majors Brutal Murder

NEW YORK, NY. (THECOUNT) — A 13-year-old male has been arrested after he reportedly confessed to stabbing Tessa Majors in NYC Morningside Park Wednesday, according to a police source.

As many as three people were involved in the shocking murder, according to Fox29

The teen has not been identified because of his age.

The NYC park where 18-year-old Majors was stabbed to death in an apparent robbery, has the dubious ranking of “number 1,” for the most robberies reported this year among all New York City parks, according to the police department crime statistics.

The park, located on W 116th Street, had at least 11 reports of robbery through September compared to 10 at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and 9 at Claremont Park in the Bronx, according to NBCMiami.

Police are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Majors’ murderer or murderers.

The Barnard College student was found mortally stabbed near Columbia University on Wednesday and was the daughter of James Madison University professor and novelist Inman Majors, TheCount.com has confirmed.

Majors, 18, was attending college in New York when she was brutally murdered Wednesday during an apparent robbery. Police say they are interviewing two juveniles in connection to the deadly incident.

The freshman student was found unresponsive by a security guard near West 116th Street in Morningside Heights late Wednesday, December 11.

According to New York police, Majors had been stabbed repeatedly shortly before 7 p.m. Investigators believe it was the result of an attempted robbery. Police believe she made it a short distance before collapsing at a college security booth, but the guard was out making rounds at the time, and by the time the guard returned, it was too late, reports WHSV.

Tessa was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead of stab wounds.

According to New York media outlets, police are interviewing two minors in connection to the fatal stabbing, but no arrests have yet been made.

“We do have a couple people that we are questioning at the 26th Precinct,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harris told reporters.
