COLLIER COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Wayne T.L. Wycoff, of Ave Maria, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday vehicle wreck involving another vehicle operated by Naples woman, Christina Porter. Porter’s vehicle contained several children.
Wycoff, 49, was killed in the crash and three children were seriously injured late Wednesday afternoon on Camp Keais Road near Immokalee in Collier County.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Wayne Thomas Lynch Wycoff was operating a Ford Explorer on Camp Keais Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes.
Wycoff’s vehicle then struck a Ford Expedition driven by Porter head-on.
The force of the impact caused the Expedition to rollover.
Three passengers in Porter’s vehicle – Savanna Porter, age 10; Cheyanne Porter, age 9; and Lane Porter, age 7 – were taken to Lee Memorial with serious injuries. Christina suffered minor injuries.
Wycoff was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Wycoff was not wearing a seatbelt while all of the Porters were, according to the FHP. The crash remains under investigation, reports NaplesNews.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
