CONOWINGO, MD. (THECOUNT) — At least one person is dead in a major crash involving a big rig on the Conowingo bridge, Maryland Tuesday morning, according to reports.
The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning is is an ongoing major SIG situation.
The tractor trailer went over the barrier on Route 1 on the south side of the dam. It did not go into the water.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road has been shuttered in both directions.
The dam is being assessed for damage at this time.
It’s unknown when the road will reopen.
