TROUTVILLE, VA. (THECOUNT) — James D Powers, the grandfather of Dane Powers, who was killed in a 2005 vehicle crash, has himself been killed in a Troutville crash Sunday night, according to reports.
21-year-old Dane Powers, a former wrestling star at Lord Botetourt High School, was killed after wrecking his father’s car in 2005.
James D Powers, 75, was operating a Ford F-150 on Gravel Hill Road, two miles west of Route 11 in Botetourt County, when for unknown reason, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway.
Elder Powers was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Virginia State Police are investigating the crash.
