WACO, TX. (THECOUNT) — Aquarius Tyrone McPhaul, 17, was murdered, found dead behind a Waco, Texas cemetery in September, and now Daezion Watkins has been taken into custody in the death, according to reports.
Watkins marks the second arrest in the murder of McPhaul that occurred in September of this year in the 2900 block of S. 4th St, in Waco.
Watkins’ arrest did not go smoothly.
He was being transported to the Waco Police Department by a family member to turn himself in on Tuesday afternoon, when Watkins escaped the vehicle near the police station. He then fled on foot.
After a short chase, he was captured in an Edna Street backyard by Waco Police Department patrol officers, detectives, and a K-9 officer.
He has been charged with the murder and now an additional charge of evading arrest, reports KXXV.
The investigation into the murder is ongoing.
